《機械原理》是根據國家教育部製訂的“高等工業學校機械原理課程教學基本要求”並結合作者多年教學和科研的成果而編寫的。
《機械原理》以培養學生基本設計能力和創新設計能力為目標,強化解析法和機構綜合內容,反映了機構學的新成果和發展趨勢。全書共十二章,包括緒論、平面機構結構分析、機械運動分析、平面連桿機構、凸輪機構、齒輪機構、輪系、其它常用機構、組合機構、機械平衡、機械系統的運轉及其調速、機構系統創新設計。大部分章節均附有相當數量的思考題和練習題。為方便中國學生閱讀,書末附有英中詞彙對照表。
