The book takes the reader from planning the acquisition of a wireless network through to its implementation. During the design phase, the reader will learn how to perform a site survey and explore issues such as selecting the right standard, mode, access point, channel, and antenna. After planning and design, the reader will learn how to install clients and setup roaming. A book on wireless networking is not complete without a discussion of risks, threats and controls. The reader will explore threats such as war driving, jamming, hijacking and man-in-the-middle attacks. To combat these threats, the book introduces the reader to controls such as MAC and protocol filtering, WEP, WPA, EAP and VPNs. The last section helps the reader understand how to keep their wireless network on the air through monitoring and tuning. The part of tens will provide useful information on IEEE wireless standards, security vulnerabilities, administration tools and places to connect while on the road.
